WHAT IS FLAVA?
Fordham Flava, Fordham University's only hip-hop dance team, is a talented team of dedicated dancers and creative choreographers. Established in 2004, Flava has solidified its name as a prestigious team of passionate performers looking to share their love for dance! We work together to grow as dancers through the creative process of choreographing, practicing, and performing what we create.

FALL SEMESTER
During the Fall Semester, we focus on practicing to perform at various on-campus club events!
Our Fall Semester consists of more performances around campus and is when we film our concept video! The Fall Semester tends not to be as busy as our Spring Semester which means we get to focus more on perfecting our skills!
*Auditions for Fall Semester are usually held near the end of September - Exact dates will be announced as the semester gets closer!
SPRING SEMESTER
During the Spring Semester, we dedicate our time to producing a themed showcase to perform around the end of the semester. This is our biggest and most anticipated performance of the entire year!
To prepare for our showcase, we teach each other our choreography, practice, and participate in the creative process of producing a show! All team members are able to participate in the process through submitting choreo or simply bring apart of group numbers.
*Spring auditions are usually held near the end of January - Exact date to be announced as the semester gets closer!
AUDITION PROCESS
*We welcome anyone to try out for Flava no matter their level of dance experience*

Here's how it works:​

We teach a combo that we feel is similar to what Flava normally performs.

Then we split all those auditioning into smaller groups, and each group will have a chance to perform the routine they learned in front of our e-board.

While still in the small groups, we will ask you to freestyle so we get a sense of your performance style and personality!

At this point, our e-board will make a first round of cuts, and those who remain will go through another round of auditions!

We understand how scary the audition process can feel, but as long as you come with a positive attitude, there's nothing to fear! All are welcome to audition, and we hope to see you there!

PRACTICE
Flava practices every night, Monday - Thursday 7 pm to 9 pm/10 pm
(Hours may vary in Spring due to Showcase)
